The story of Parottee Primary School begins in 1967, when our institution was established to serve the educational needs of the South West St. Elizabeth community. Founded during a transformative period in Jamaica's educational development, our school emerged as a vital resource for families in this coastal region, located just ten kilometers from the historic town of Black River.
From its inception, Parottee Primary has been deeply connected to the maritime character of our community. Our school grew alongside a population primarily engaged in fishery work, understanding and embracing the unique cultural heritage and economic realities of our families. This connection to the sea and our local traditions has always informed our approach to education, making learning relevant and meaningful to our students' lived experiences.
Over the decades, Parottee Primary has evolved from a modest beginning to become a comprehensive educational institution serving approximately 100 students. As a government-owned, co-educational school operating on a whole-day system, we have continuously adapted our programs and facilities to meet changing educational standards and community needs. The dedication of countless educators and community members has shaped our school into the thriving institution it is today.
In recent years, we have embraced the digital age while maintaining our commitment to fundamental educational values. Our integration of technology into teaching, learning, and assessment practices represents our forward-thinking approach to education. This modernization, combined with our traditional strengths, has positioned us well for future challenges and opportunities.
Today, under the capable leadership of Principal Denash Clarke, Parottee Primary School continues to build on its legacy of service to the St. Elizabeth community. Our recent 'Good' rating in the 2024-2025 inspection reflects not just our current achievements, but the culmination of over five decades of dedication to educational excellence. As we look toward the future, we remain committed to our founding mission of providing quality education that transforms lives and strengthens our community.
